HONOLULU, Hawaii --Aloha Rainbow Wahine Softball fans!

Following a successful sweep this past weekend against conference nemesis, the Nevada Wolfpack, the Rainbow Wahine (28-12 overall, 6-3 WAC) will be leaving Honolulu on Tuesday (April 12th) for Ruston, LA for another three game Western Athletic Conference series against Louisiana Tech (11-28 overall, 2-7 WAC).

In conference play, the Lady Techsters of Louisiana Tech are 2-7 and coming off back to back losses to Boise State. Before playing the Rainbow Wahine on Friday April 15th and a double-header on Saturday April 16, the Lady Techsters will play host to Northwestern State.

The series schedule against Louisiana Tech is as follows:

Friday, April 15: RAINBOW WAHINE vs Louisiana Tech at 1pm HAWAII TIME

Saturday, April 16: RAINBOW WAHINE vs Louisiana Tech at 8AM HAWAII TIME double-header*

There are only two more weekends for Rainbow Wahine Softball fans to come out and support the home team! The Rainbow Wahine will host Boise State on Friday April 22nd and Saturday 23rd and will play their FINAL regular season home games on Friday April 29th and on SENIOR NIGHT on Saturday April 30th hosting the New Mexico State Aggies.

It has been another great season full of ups and downs on the softball field, but the continued support of the fans and those that have taken on the initiative of supporting and joining the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club in it's first year of existence is the one constant that keeps this program in tune with many of the top level NCAA Division I softball programs across the country!

Booster Club News:

-The Na Wahine Softball Booster Club, with the support of it's members and various fans attending Rainbow Wahine Softball games have surpassed it's goal of receiving $1,000.00 in outright cash donations! Through the generosity of dozens and dozens of fans, the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club is having a wonderful 2011 year as we are able to move smoothly with our mission of providing supplemental financial support for the coaches and the student-athletes of the Rainbow Wahine Softball program.

In addition to the outright cash donations, the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club has accumulated even more funds through membership fees. As of today, the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club is currently over 70 members. All membership fees, as with all outright cash donations, continue to go towards the Rainbow Wahine Softball program. All post game potluck's/meals for the student-athletes, fees for the professional development of the coaching staff, and other expenses not covered by the allocated budget are taken care of through the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club.

In November of this year 2011, the Rainbow Wahine have a scheduled outer-island trip to the beautiful island of Maui where they will play a fall exhibition game against the Wahine Vulcan's of the University of Hawai'i at Hilo. In addition to treating the Maui fans to NCAA collegiate women's fast pitch softball, the Rainbow Wahine and the coaching staff will conduct a softball clinic as well. More details will be released. This is another venture that the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club helps with regards to funding and all members and outright donors should be proud that their donations, whether outright or via membership fees, truly are contributing to the advancement of Rainbow Wahine Softball.

On Saturday April 9th, during the bottom of the 4th inning of the last game of the double-header against Nevada, the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club debuted it's interactive foul ball promotion. Usually fans would be required to return all foul balls to the grounds crew of the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium, however, the foul ball promotion gives fans the opportunity to receive a gameday souvenir. If a foul ball is caught in the stands, and ONLY in the stands, the fan may bring the ball to a Na Wahine Softball Booster Club officer next to the press box to exchange it for an official University of Hawaii logo softball that is suitable for autographs.

The foul ball promotion will continue to be held during the second game of the double-headers on Saturday April 23 (Boise State home series) and during senior night on Saturday April 30th (New Mexico State home series).
