HONOLULU, Hawaii --Aloha Rainbow Wahine Softball fans!

HAPPY NEW YEAR RAINBOW WAHINE SOFTBALL FANS!!! 2012 is here and the anticipation of another exciting year of Rainbow Wahine Softball is upon us. We are just over a month away from the start of the 2012 softball season which kicks off on Thursday, February 9th at 6pm as Hawai‘i begins the 2012 Oceanic Time Warner Cable Paradise Classic against Seattle University.

This season, Coach Bob Coolen debuts his largest roster to date with 24 Rainbow Wahine. This year's team is made up of 17 returning letterwinners including seniors Alex Aguirre, Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu, Shannon Lum, Dara Pagaduan, Rachel Paragas, Stephanie Ricketts, and Sarah Robinson.

This year's squad also showcases a new core of talented freshmen from across the GLOBE!!! The state of California brings to us catcher/first baseman Kayla Wartner and outfielder Jordan Burton; the Evergreen State of Washington is represented by third baseman Austin Wilkerson; the Prairie State of Illinois brings in third baseman Keiko Sugihara; the Lone Star State of Texas has delivered to Hawai‘i second baseman Stacy Rosengren; from the windward side of O‘ahu--Castle High School's own first baseman/pitcher Leisha Li‘ili‘i and making her debut as the 11th Australian to play softball for the University of Hawai‘i, Lauren Parnaby (sister of junior pitcher Kaia Parnaby).

In addition to the new freshman class, the Rainbow Wahine Softball program has a new team student manager with Justine Tjaden of Murietta, CA. This will be the first time the program has had a team manager since current assistant coach Kaulana Williams held the position in 2009.

======NA WAHINE SOFTBALL BOOSTER CLUB NEWS======

Due to the success of previous seasons, the Na Wahine Softball Booster Club will continue accepting outright cash donations at ALL home games throughout the 2012 season. The Rainbow Wahine softball program has received over $3,000.00 in outright cash donations collected at all home games since 2010. Outright cash donations will be continued to be accepted at our booster club tent outside the main entrance to the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Due to some unforeseen changes, we were unable to send out order forms for our exclusive Under Armour Na Wahine Softball Booster Club polo shirt to our 2012 members. However, we will be issuing these out again for those that are new to the booster club or our renewing members that would like to purchase additional shirts or missed the opportunity last time. Again, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Rainbow Wahine softball program. Orders with enclosed checks are due by Thursday February 2nd and polo shirts will be ready for mailing or pickup after Monday February 20th.

The Na Wahine Softball Booster Club is proud to announce a new initiative and interactive way for our members and supporters to become a part of the 2012 softball season while continuing to support our Rainbow Wahine. Our "DOLLARS FOR DINGERS AND KOKUA FOR K’s" pledge drive will allow fans and members to pledge any dollar amount towards all home runs hit by our Rainbow Wahine or all strike outs recorded by our Rainbow Wahine pitchers against opponents for the 2012 season! Fans will have until the LAST home game of the regular season to mail in their form, but regardless of when your form is submitted, your pledge amount will be determined by the TOTAL home run and/or strike outs accumulated from the beginning of the 2012 season to the very end-- all post season play is included. Pledge forms will be available at our booster club tent on site at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium throughout the season or you may download the form right here: Dollar for Dingers

We are in pretty good shape as of today as our membership count is double what it was at the same time last year and we have a little over half of our members renewed for 2012 at this time. All members from 2011 will have until March 31st to renew their membership for 2012. All renewals or new memberships received on April 1st and beyond will count for the 2013 softball season membership. You may download our membership form here: Application Form or you may opt to submit your membership online here: Online Application
